Do you wait until their coat isn't as soft as it used to be or they start to get a little smelly? Is there anything you do between washes to make it last?

Brushing your dog regularly between baths keeps their coat soft and requires less baths. The fewer baths a dog gets, the better... I bathe my dog when I can no longer stand the doggy-odor :)

I find that simply hosing my dog down and drying him off helps him go the extra mile between washes. I naturally find myself doing this on long walks otherwise he overheats or before leaving the dog park because he likes to lay in the muddy water near the water fountains ._.
